Lost instruments:

Over the past few weeks, several instruments have been reported missing, misplaced, or lost. We recommend placing an AirTag or similar tracking device in your son’s instrument case and ensuring it is clearly labelled both inside and outside to help keep it secure. Please note that all instruments owned by the College are fitted with a barcode for identification.

Concert Club, commencing Term 2:

We have organised a limited number of tickets to the following Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) concerts next term. These will be made available to Elective Music students in the first instance via Clipboard at an introductory subsidised rate, before being offered to our wider Performing Arts student body.

Students will be dropped to and from the Opera House by parents and will be supervised by a staff member throughout the concert. Dress is smart casual. Emails will be sent home to relevant students soon.

HSC Major Works Day:

Our first HSC Major Works Day for 2026, was held yesterday and gave our HSC Music 1, Music 2, and Music Extension students a highly valuable opportunity to work with their accompanists before their first performance assessment of the year.

The day was a clear success for all involved, helping students build confidence and polish their performances while benefiting from extended, uninterrupted rehearsal time. It also created space for deeper engagement with their individual projects, with students directing their attention to composition and musicology work. This allowed them to refine their ideas with greater clarity and a stronger sense of artistic direction in alignment with their chosen focus areas.

Year 7: Exemplary Work

Last week I promised Thomas’ excellent scratch video but unfortunately we didn’t get the link organised in time. Here it is now for your enjoyment.

Year 7: Double Figures

These are my final Double Figures photos. In this activity, two actors work together to embody a single character, an “expert” on a delightfully silly topic such as snail racing or Christmas‑tree decorating. This collaborative challenge encourages students to think quickly, listen closely, and build strong performance chemistry. Next term students will be working in a group to write and perform their advert and the Double Figures character will be included in that task.

PAPA News

Last Friday an enthusiastic group of parents and carers from across Performing Arts music and drama gathered together at The Orchard in Chatswood.

Big thanks to Jana Gibson, the Committee's social coordinator, for organising the event and we look forward to seeing more parents and carers at future SPX and PAPA events.
