XEL
PCYC Visit:
On Thursday afternoons, the XEL Group attend PCYC, Snr Constable Brad Killen, the Health Trainer at PCYC, picks us up in the PCYC bus. For one hour, Brad guides and trains us in boxing, weight lifting, punching bags, self-defence exercises, and play basketball for fitness, fun and exercise. Brad speaks to us about doing the right thing at school and in the community. The XEL group is a small group of elite students, so we are very lucky that Brad, and sometimes Penny, are able to work with us on Thursday afternoons. We are very grateful Ms Milne and Matt are able to escort us down to the PCYC.
On Friday afternoons, Ms Milne and Matt escort us on local walks around the surrounds of ASC. We have been to the wetland area, the ASC Agricutural Farm and the Arboretum. We call this our Wellbeing Walk which enables us to debrief in a natural environment, out of the classroom.
Ms Milne and Matt guide us in breathing strategies, meditation practices and mindfulness activities in nature.
Our Wellbeing Walks give us a break, refresh and spend time in quiet and comforting nature after a long, hard week of school work. Walking also enables us to release energy and head into the weekend feeling happy and calm.
