Blue Hole Excursion

Our Year 9 Outdoor Education class had an excursion to the Blue Hole. They walked the Threlfall track, built shelters and cooked lunch using the hiking stoves. Then finished the day with some rock hopping.

It was a fantastic experience and a big thanks to Mr Lacey for helping out.

North West Inter School Pig Showing and Judging Competition

15 ASC Agriculture students attended the pig show hosted by Bingara school . Our students attended three workshops presented by professional pig farmers, marketers and officials from the Department of Primary Industries to learn of the opportunities the industry offers their potential future career pathways.

Yr 10 Student Jodie Henshall and Yr 9 Student Zhiyan Murad both made the final of the judging competition. Zhiyan finished a commendable 5th on the junior competition whilst Jodie finished a superb 2nd in the senior competition. Our school show pig, Dorothy finished 4th overall in the very competitive Porker class.

14 schools from the region entered a total of 42 pigs and our students represented our school in an outstanding manner, making valuable networking opportunities and new friends from other schools. Dorothy the pig also met some new friends and had an afternoon nap with a few new friends. Dorothy is a pedigree Berkshire pig ( black) and her breed is growing in popularity due to their outstanding meat quality. ASC Farm has a registered breeding program and our students work with our stock every school day.

Mr Jason Walker

Last Friday the 15th September, Year 9 PASS and Outdoor Ed students challenged themselves in the Mini Muddies obstacle course at Farrer. Students were able to get involved for a great cause, supporting the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

Everyone had a fantastic day and these students were excellent ambassadors for our school. Please see below for some before and after shots!
