Health and Physical Education

It has been a huge term for sport at BRPS with interschool sport and LOTS of swimming happening. 

Swimming

House Swimming Carnival:

We started off the year with our house carnival which saw Gold House being crowned the winners for the second year running.

 

District Swimming:

On Tuesday March 3rd, we headed out to GESAC to compete against the other schools in our district. We had a brilliant day in the pool with many victories and strong swims which resulted in BRPS winning the District competition again for the second year in a row, an unbelievable effort!

Division Swimming:

On Tuesday March 10th we sent a big team of 19 swimmers out to Divisions to compete. All swimmers and teams did amazingly well and showed fantastic effort throughout. We had two relay teams come out as victors who now progress to the Souther Metro Regionals on April 1st. Well done to the 11yr boys relay team (Nate, Ewan, James and Fletcher) and the 10yr girls relay team (Billie, Indie, Georgia and Olivia), good luck at Regionals!

Swimming - Southern Metropolitan Region

Congratulations to Year 5 & 6 students Ewan T, Nate C, James B and Fletcher W who competed as the 11yr boys freestyle relay team at the Southern Metropolitan Region Carnival on April 1st. This carnival is the final stage before the State Championships. The team put in a stirling effort to claim a podium finish in 2nd place - one better than last year!

Congratulations also to the 10 yr girls relay team - Billie, Indie, Georgia and Olivia - who placed 5th in their Regional event. The team should be very proud of their efforts to compete at such high level! 

Interschool Sport

We have now concluded our summer interschool sport fixtures with the Year 5's and 6's competing well across all sports. A big congratulations to the girls basketball team and the boys cricket team who have come out as district champions and will move on to the next level in term 4!

BRPS Student Success

Over the past few weeks we have had several BRPS students competing in out of school sports competitions and achieving terrific results...

Victorian Junior Life Saving Championships:

 We had several students competing at these championship, congratulations to Charlie W (4C), Charlie E (4A), Tommy W (4C), Elly W (4B), Fletcher W (5/6A) and Brodie E (5/6E) on their efforts as well as Jackson S (4A) achieving terrific results and winning a gold medal for the under 9 boys surf race, congratulations Jackson!

Little Athletics State Championships:

We also had a few students competing at the Little Aths competition. Well done to Gemma E (6th - Shot Put), Ewan T (16th - Discus), Billie K (2nd - 60m Hurdles), Will M (9th - 200m), Liv D (4th - 100m), Harry D (4th - 200m) and James B (5th - 800m) on their terrific efforts.

Celebrating Ex Students

A big congratulations to ex student Will Lewis who made his AFL debut for the Western Bulldogs in Round 1. He joins fellow ex BRPS students Luke Cleary (Western Bulldogs), Cam Mackenzie (Hawthorn) and Lenny Hofmann (Geelong) as our current AFL listed players.

TERM 1 PE

Foundation / Year 1

Students have been introduced to fundamental movement skills through Basketball and AFL, focusing on basic ball handling, kicking, and coordination. They have also been learning simple warm-up games and stretches to understand how their bodies move and prepare for activity.


Year 2

Students have been developing their skills in Basketball and AFL, including dribbling, passing, and kicking with improved control. They have also explored a range of warm-up activities and stretches, helping them identify different parts of the body and how they are used in movement.


Year 3 / 4

Students have been building their skills and understanding of Basketball and AFL, with a focus on teamwork, game rules, and applying skills in modified games. They have also been introduced to a variety of warm-ups and stretches to support safe participation and body awareness.


Year 5 / 6

Students have been refining their Basketball and AFL skills through game-based learning, focusing on strategy, teamwork, and decision-making. They have also taken part in structured warm-ups and stretching routines, developing a deeper understanding of how different muscle groups are used in physical activity.
