Performing Arts has continued to be very busy and active for March. As a tune in into each class, we have been watching:
Samples of songs from many different countries:

Rap song samples:

History of Music:

Different musical instruments:

In Foundation, our students have been focussing on fast and slow beats, and sound stories. For example, they have been exploring a sound story about fast and slow sounds called The Hare and the Tortoise.
In Year 1, they have been focussing on pitch and melody. The students have learned the song Reach up High, moved to the pitch song Stepping Up, Stepping Down, and created pitch maps about high and low patterns.
Students in Year 2 have been focusing on long and short sounds and rhythms. They have been responding to long and short sounds by chanting the song Banyard Chant, singing the song TV Tunes, and moving to and composing their own ostinato.
In Year 3, our students in March have focussed on rhythm, raps and rhymes. They have continued to practise beat grouping in threes and fours. For example, students have been moving to the song Tango Joe and have sung and danced to the song Rhymers’ Waltz.
Students in Year 4 have focussed on the rhythms and riffs of Hoedown and Boogie-Woogie music. As an example, they sang, performed and moved to the Hoedown song Old Dan Tucker. They explored the beat, rhythm and movement of Boogie-Woogie music with the song Beat Box Boogie.
In Year 5 and 6, students have explored Celtic Music. They have looked at the instruments of Celtic music, created their own Celtic composition with the song Workin’ On The Railroad, and focussed on Galloping Celtic Rhythms by performing the song Pick A Banana. They have also danced to the song The Celtic Ring.
