East Gippsland Girls AFL

Our girls AFL team had a very enjoyable match against Nagle last week, with both teams only managing to field a side late in the piece. Well done to our footy stars who kicked truly on the day to win 64 – 16, an effort our whole school can be proud of. They now head to Sale to compete at Gippsland level in what is likely to be a tough game, good luck BSC.

State Lawn Bowls Championships

The College was represented in the State Lawn Bowls Championships in Sunbury last week by Ayla, Sylah, Annabell and Issabell. The girls played up in the senior competition holding their own against excellent opponents in Vermont SC, Sandringham College and Bellarine SC. In what was very entertaining and close competition in our 3 rounds prior to finals, we just couldn’t claim a win narrowly losing all 3 games to knock us out of contention. The team was rewarded with a Spirit of Sport Award which was voted on by the other schools on the day to the team who had the best sportsmanship and fair play which was a very pleasant nod to the strengths of our students. Good luck next time, well done.

We would like to acknowledge the Swifts Creek SC Junior team who made to the Semi Finals of the State competition, it is a very impressive effort, and they represented themselves to a very high standard, congratulations.

Gippsland Volleyball

Three teams made it through to the competition at the Latrobe Leisure Centre in Morwell last week. Our Senior Girls and Boys teams along with the Year 8 Girls team played their hearts out entertaining the crowds with solid serving, strong digs and powerful spikes. It is great to see our students competing and representing themselves with such a positive demeaner and putting themselves out there with a willingness to try. At the end of the competition, we walked away not progressing to State level but happy to have bonded throughout the many training sessions and games under the guidance of Mr Keane.
