Last Thursday a fun day was had by the students and staff at Athletics day. The weather was cool but sunny and the students joined into many events and dressed in their house colours. Dargo was the winning house on the day. Congratulations to all the students who participated on the day, it was a huge success!
On Friday 2nd May Year 12 Students went on an excursion to Melbourne where they were able to access a wide range of education providers and employers from across the country in the one place. Students also took part in revision lectures and seminars. In the afternoon, students went on a tour of the RMIT University, City Campus. Former student Clare Brown spoke about her teacher course at RMIT Bundoora and life as a university student.
On Monday 12th May we had a collection of universities and independent tertiary colleges visit our College to help students prepare for future careers. The information provided by TIS focuses on VTAC and transitioning to tertiary education after secondary school. Students had the opportunity to ask questions of tertiary representatives at the expo providing insight into what is available for their 'next steps'.
Year 10, 11 and 12 students from Metal Design, Systems and Engineering, Product Design and Technology visited RMIT technology campus. Students participated in a crumple zone workshop by designing and making their own crumple zones for their cars. Cars were fitted with a GPS device to measure the impact of the cars when they hit the roadblock. They learnt about the different course available, university life and various ways to enter tertiary courses at RMIT. They also toured the tech facility which uses 3D printers and robotics to create products for various clients and coursework.
Afterwards, we visited the Melbourne museum to see the top designs exhibition which showcases A+ student work from 2024 from media, photography, visual communication, product design and tech, systems and engineering. students also looked at the permanent collection.
Formal dance practise has begun with Shawna the dance instructor teaching the students 3 dances over the next 6 weeks. This year is the biggest number of participant's being 108 students. We are looking forward to seeing their 'dance moves' at the formal in a couple of weeks.
Student had an over night stay in Omeo enjoying great weather. Students had an opportunity to ride the new mountain bike tracks that have been established and study the environment that surrounds the tracks.
