Book Week 2026

‘Symphony of Stories’

This year we will be celebrating Book Week in Term 3, Week 5 (Monday 17th August).

Book Week is an annual celebration for children, young adults and teachers/parents. We celebrate a love of reading and all that books have to offer. The theme for this year’s book week is ‘Symphony of Stories’.

Book Character Parade Monday, 17 August (Week 5)

Children are encouraged to come to school dressed as a book character on this day. We will celebrate with a whole school Character Parade beginning at 9.15am.  Parents are welcome to join us.  This is a fun day with all teachers and students participating.

We ask that children dress up in a simple costume that reflects a favourite book/story character.  Costumes do not need to be elaborate, or store bought, and, if it is possible, using items from home.  This is a fun day when children can enjoy ‘stepping into someone else’s shoes’.

Presentation Page

During our library lessons children will be completing a ‘Symphony of Stories’ presentation page for display. Children will draw pictures of their favourite book covers, characters, or scenes from a book.  These will be on display in the library. Below are some completed pages.

Book Donating Thank you

Thank you to everyone who donated books to our library.  Once again, it was amazing how many books were donated, and I thank our school community for your generosity.  Books will be loaned to the children who donated the book first and then will be available to all borrowers after that. Books will be loaned out from Week 5.

There is still a large range of books available for donating to the library and if you would like your child to donate, please send them to school with money, or come to the library.  Payments can be made to the office also, if parents would like their child to donate a book. Books range in price from $5 to $25.

The child who donates the new book will be the first one to borrow that book and a special book plate (sticker) with the child’s name placed in the front of the book.  Over the years, many families have been very generous with donating, and this ensures our library is filled with beautiful books.

Thank you.

Happy Reading
