New School Plan
We invite all parents to join us for School Planning sessions on Tuesday 8 September at either 3:15–4:00pm or 5:00–5:45pm. These gatherings will provide a valuable opportunity to share your thoughts and help shape the path ahead for Roselea. Two sessions have been created to allow families to attend and work around their busy schedules. #GetinvolvedatRoselea
Check-in assessment for Years 3-6
Dear parents and carers,
During Term 3, students will participate in the Check-in assessment.
The Check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online literacy and numeracy assessment available to support schools to assess and monitor student learning.
The assessment can supplement existing school practices to identify how students are performing in literacy and numeracy and to help teachers tailor their teaching more specifically to student needs. Students with disability may receive the same level of support during the assessment they would normally receive in the classroom.
- The assessment will be scheduled for our Years 3-6 students during Weeks 6-10.
- All students complete a reading assessment and a numeracy assessment.
- Year 6 students will also complete a writing assessment.
Optional: Students may bring their own headphones or earbuds that plug into a computer to enable them to hear audio during the assessment. The school has some headphones that students may use in the computer lab.
Weeks 7-10 timetable will be in the next newsletter.
Kindergarten Ethics Classes
Classes for Kindergarten students who nominated Ethics will commence this Wednesday, 12 August 2026.
Vision Impairment Multi-Sport Days – Featuring Jackson G
This term, Jackson G took part in the Vision Impairment Multi-Sport Days. These events were created for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The program offers Jackson and other students the opportunity to experience sports such as cricket, tennis, golf, soccer, and AFL in a supportive and inclusive setting.
With the guidance of Blind Sports NSW and specialist sporting bodies, Jackson developed new skills, participate in modified games, and connected with peers through sport. Teachers who attended also learnt practical strategies to make their lessons more accessible for students with vision impairment.
Jackson attended this event with his Vision Itinerant team, showcasing how every student can be involved and thrive in school sporting activities.
The events took place at Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope Gardens, and Newcastle Basketball Stadium, Broadmeadow. These venues provided a welcoming and accessible environment, ensuring that all participating students, including Jackson, had the opportunity to fully engage in the multi-sport experience.
Kindergarten 2027
Just a reminder that it is that time of year again where we begin our orientation process for Kindergarten 2027. We have a number of enrolments already however we do know that there are a large number of existing families who have a child starting Kindergarten next year who have not submitted their enrolment. With Kindergarten Interviews with the Principal beginning shortly, we encourage you to submit your enrolment as soon as possible. These interviews provide a wonderful opportunity for families to share more about their child and ask any questions about starting school. To help ensure a smooth and confident transition, we also invite all prospective families to our ‘Is Your Child Ready for Kindergarten?’ information evening, being held on 8 September at 6pm. This session will cover helpful tips, expectations, and ways you can support your child’s journey on their first year of school. We look forward to welcoming existing and new families to this event!
Mid-Year Parent Survey
As we reach the middle of the year, we invite all Roselea families to participate in our Mid-Year Parent Survey. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us reflect on our progress, celebrate strengths, and identify areas for growth within our school community. The survey is a great opportunity to share your experiences, insights, and suggestions to ensure we continue providing the best possible learning environment for your child. We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to complete the survey and thank you for your ongoing partnership and support.
