Principal's Message

Mrs Kylie Bryant - Principal

What an incredible fortnight it has been at Roselea, with Education Week standing out as a highlight packed full of wonderful events showcasing the vibrant community and learning at our school.

Education Week

Monday saw our 3-6 Volleyball Program begin, providing students with the opportunity to try a new sport, and the much anticipated Dumpling Day was a huge success. Amazing food, a fantastic community atmosphere, and so many parent volunteers lending a hand. A special thank you to Mrs Dong for organising this memorable event that brought us all together.

Tuesday had Kindergarten students enjoying an exciting excursion to Calmsley Hill City Farm, connecting with nature and animals. As they were leaving to get on the bus I asked them to count the number of ducks they see. I think this proved too challenging and I may have underestimated the number of ducks they would see as no one came back with a number!

On Wednesday our Kindergarten students aged overnight, maybe it was the farm that exhausted them or maybe it was that they had now completed 100 days of Kindergarten. One of my most favourite days of the year, I joined them in dressing up, we read stories together where I use my best grandma voice and they spent the day learning all about the number 100. Congratulations goes to their parents for some very creative and fun costumes!

Thursday was our official Public Education Open Day with open classrooms, community picnic and special assembly. Thank you to all who joined us, it was a great day capturing what makes Roselea so special. In my Principal’s address, I spoke of how ‘BIG Futures Start in Small Places’ and this day really captured this with our showcase of learning in the classrooms, the vibrant and welcoming lunch with special menu items from the canteen and families joining together across the lunch break, the amazing performances of our Band, Dance Group and Choir along with the celebration of excellence with our special awards for the day.

Across the Fortnight

In addition to Public Education Week, we also had an array of other special events. Stage 2 students had an exciting excursion to Sydney Zoo where they spent time learning about the conservation of dingoes and the ecological impact they have.

Across the past two weeks every parent had the opportunity to meet with their child’s classroom teacher, discuss their semester one report, their progress and next steps in learning. These are an important aspect of sharing information with parents and I encourage you to reach out at any point in time if you have questions, concerns or would like to know more about where your child is at with their learning. Our teachers are always happy to meet with you.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to these fantastic experiences. Your ongoing support and involvement continue to make Roselea a vibrant, welcoming place where BIG Futures Start in Small Places!
