CSEN Volleyball Tournament

On the 12th of October, Bayside sent two teams to the CSEN State Volleyball Tournament at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) for the first time.

Bayside competed in the Senior (Years 10-12) boys’ and girls’ divisions, playing four short round-robin matches before progressing to the finals bracket. Both teams played well, getting stronger and more confident with each passing match. Similarly, both teams won their quarter-final matches to progress to the final four. After losing their respective semi-finals, both teams went on to compete in the bronze medal matches.

In the girls’ semi-final, the team put up a fight, winning a set against the team that would eventually claim the gold medal. In the bronze medal match, the girls continued to fight until the end and although they narrowly missed out on a medal, they demonstrated resilience and outstanding support for one another throughout the tournament.

In the boys bronze medal match, the team lost the first set in the best of three. The second set got off to a similar start, being five points down over half way through. The boys then managed to turn it around, winning the set and the tie breaking third set to secure the bronze medal in an amazing comeback effort!

Future Sports Star – Indiana Davidson

A big congratulations to Indiana on competing in the Equestrian Interschool Nationals competition over the term three break. Prior to the recent competition Indiana made it through the interschool state championships to qualify for the Victorian national team.

At the national level Indiana competed at the event placing a third out of a very competitive field in the showjumping intermediate 90cm (the height of the jumps) year 7-9, whilst representing the Bayside.

On the last day of competition the overall winners were announced, Indiana ranked first in Victoria and third nationally. Well done.
