Ballarat High Goes Bald for a Cause!

On Friday 2nd May, Ballarat High School came together for one of the most colourful (and hair-raising!) events of the year – the World’s Greatest Shave.
All Year 10 students gathered in full force, with Year 11 classes joining in on the action as we celebrated community spirit, courage and compassion. The event was proudly organised by our Year 11 student leadership team in collaboration with the Year 11 VM students from Miss Mackenzie’s class.
We were honoured to welcome a guest speaker from Ballarat Health Services, who shared insightful messages about cancer and the impact of research funding. We also had the privilege of hosting Marnie and Andrew from the World’s Greatest Shave team, who brought great energy and support to the event.
Live bands brought the vibe, the BBQ brought the crowd and our incredible fundraisers brought the heart.
Special mention to our school nurse Robyn Creelman, who raised a jaw-dropping $2,972, alongside impressive efforts from:
Cooper Harris – $1,073
Eve Gunn-Cleary – $657
Mr Fields – $880
Estelle Lendfers – $420
Beau Finnigan – $291
Leah Ross – $241
Toby Marcollo – $320
Rachael Arnold – $124
Princey Taylor – $102
Isaac Rawson – $103
Rose Cudby – $104
Aiden Kirkwood – $104
And to those who contributed under $100, your efforts were just as valued – Oscar Edmonston, Riley Vanek, Adrienne Harris, Jaymz Terletzky, Ava Gudgeon, Jack Bell, Zach Boyle and Rufus Tomich – thank you!
A huge thank you goes out to the many student leaders across all year levels who helped run the event – setting up, running the BBQ, selling lollies and making it all happen behind the scenes.
So far, $8,068 has been raised online – with more still to be counted from the day. This event wasn’t just about hair – it was about hope, generosity and standing in solidarity with those facing cancer.
Well done to our entire school community for making a difference.
