Year Three

Mathematics

Throughout Terms Three and Four, the Year Three students have been taking a deep dive into all things multiplication!

We have explored a variety of ways to represent multiplication, including arrays, area models, bar models, worded problems and equations.

We have even explored Cartesian products, using tree diagrams to represent different combinations of options. Tree diagrams show the possible choices by branching out from a single starting point, creating a shape that looks just like a sideways tree!

Our confidence has grown so much that we can now represent worded problems involving the multiplication of a one-digit number by a two-digit number using a multiplication think board. This allows us to show the same problem in four different ways: an equation, an array, an area model and a bar model.

We have now begun exploring fractions and can't wait to see where Mathematics takes us next!
