Principal's Message

Mrs Kylie Bryant - Principal

What an incredible way to close Term 2! As we approach the holidays, I want to take a moment to reflect on the fantastic achievements and moments we’ve shared over the last couple of weeks and celebrate the wonderful efforts of our students, staff, and community.

This week, Semester 1 reports will be sent home on Thursday, accompanied by information about Parent-Teacher Interviews scheduled for Week 2 next term for most classes. It has been an absolute joy reading these reports—they beautifully capture the dedication, growth, and hard work our students have demonstrated across all areas of learning. I am so proud of every one of them and all they have accomplished so far this year.

On the Sporting Field

Our Athletics Carnival was undoubtedly one of many highlights of the term. We were blessed with perfect weather and an amazing display of school and community spirit. It was heartwarming to see so many families join us to cheer on our students. A special shout-out goes to Year 6 for hosting the sausage sizzle—and a huge thank you to the Year 6 parents who supported this on the day. From fun novelty games for K–2 to highly competitive events for Years 3–6, the carnival showcased real talent and wonderful teamwork. I extend sincere thanks to Mrs Jones, Mr So, Mrs Son, and Miss Jung for their exceptional organisation, which ensured the day ran seamlessly.

On another sporting note, huge congratulations to Jude and Leo for representing Beecroft Zone at the Sydney North Cross Country—an outstanding achievement! Both students were highly competitive and made us all very proud.

Community Events

Last Friday, our P&C hosted another fantastic community event with the termly Play and Popcorn afternoon. This time the event was co-hosted by Year 6, who organised engaging activities and a delicious bake sale to raise funds for their end-of-year celebrations and a special gift for the school. Despite the cooler weather, the afternoon buzzed with activity and joy. It was wonderful to see so many families come together to connect and enjoy the afternoon. Thank you to the P&C for their commitment to providing opportunities to strengthen our community and sense of belonging.  Please also note that our next P&C meeting will be held online on Monday, 29 June (Week 11) at 7:30pm.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to hold our Roselea Game Day this Friday to support the Socceroos! We encourage all students to wear green and gold—whether an Australian jersey, t-shirt, or accessories. The canteen will offer themed items for purchase, and we will be live-streaming the game from 1pm in the hall. Families are invited to join us from 1pm to share the excitement!

Farewell and Thank You

As we reach the end of Term 2, we warmly farewell Heather Blicharski, who has been an invaluable part of the Roselea community for over 30 years. Heather’s dedication as a Learning Support Officer and her integral role within our Physical Inclusion and Support Unit have made a lasting impact on countless students and families. Her tireless commitment, passion for education, and beautiful talents as a pianist have enriched our school in many ways and she will be greatly missed. We have been incredibly fortunate to benefit from her kindness and her unwavering love for working with children and supporting their learning. While Heather is officially retiring and moving on from her day-to-day role, we are delighted she will continue to share her gift by leading regular singing sessions with our K–2 students. Thank you, Heather, for your many years of devoted service—you will always be a cherished member of the Roselea family and we thank you for helping shape Roselea into the place it is. We wish you all the best as you enjoy your retirement.

We are excited to share that Mrs Waugh will be taking leave at the end of this term as she prepares to welcome her new baby. This is a wonderful milestone, and our whole school community sends her best wishes for a safe arrival and a joyful time ahead. We thank Mrs Waugh for her dedication and care in supporting our students, and while we will miss her presence at school, we look forward to welcoming her back in the future and hearing all about her new addition to her family.

After many decades of dedicated service, we are approaching the final days of our long-standing Roselea Student Care Centre as our after-school hours care provider. This wonderful service has been lovingly overseen by our parent community since its inception, with a committee of dedicated parents generously volunteering countless hours to make it a reality. Our current committee consists of Fallon Lloyd-Thomas, Vanessa Tallowwood and Hua-Chen Wang. I cannot thank these parents enough for their dedication and hard work in creating an affordable, caring, and nurturing environment for our students before and after school. My gratitude also goes to the educators who have worked in the centre over the years, especially the current team led by Steph, for their ongoing commitment to supporting families during this transition. The centre’s last day of service will be 3 July. During the holidays, our new provider, Team Kids, will transition in and be fully operational from Week 1 next term. For families seeking vacation care during the holidays, several external providers have collaborated to offer a two-week holiday program. Please see further details on School Bytes and later in this newsletter.

Staff Leave

As Term 2 draws to a close, I wanted to let you know that I will be taking leave in Week 11 and will be replaced by Mr Andrew Chong, who I know will do an outstanding job. Additionally, Mrs Son will be on leave Weeks 1 and 2 next term, with Mrs Song stepping in to continue her excellent work. Mr Love will also be away Weeks 1 and 2 and will be replaced by Mrs Koh. We are pleased to have these familiar faces supporting our students to ensure a seamless transition and continuity of learning during these times.
