Year 3 - Middle Unit

This term, our Year 3 students have begun an exciting Inquiry unit exploring Life Cycles, with a special focus on complete metamorphosis.

Students will investigate how living things grow and change over time, discovering the four stages of complete metamorphosis: egg, larva, pupa and adult. Through hands-on investigations, observations and engaging classroom activities, students will compare the life cycles of a variety of animals and explore how these changes help living things survive.

Throughout the unit, students will develop their scientific inquiry skills by asking questions, making predictions, recording observations and sharing their discoveries. They will also build their understanding of the similarities and differences between the life cycles of different organisms.

In the coming weeks, we will also be sending home information about a Life Cycles Project for students to complete with their families. This project will provide an opportunity for students to extend their learning and creatively showcase their understanding. We look forward to seeing the wonderful projects our Year 3 students create!
