My Journey with the Australian Girls Choir
I began singing with the Australian Girls Choir (AGC) at just six years old and it has since become a very important part of my life. I am now in the highest level, Performing Choir, where we continue to develop our skills and perform.
We rehearse every Thursday night in Kew, with additional rehearsals during busy performance periods. Each April, we also attend a week-long camp at Phillip Island to learn and prepare new repertoire for the year ahead.
The AGC presents three major concerts each year: the Winter Showcase in June, AGC in Concert in August and the Annual Concert at Hamer Hall in November. I’ve also had the opportunity to perform at a range of special events, including concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Carols by Kingston, citizenship ceremonies and Christmas performances across Melbourne.
This year, I am especially excited to take on the role of a “Sorella,” where I mentor younger choristers and support them each week. It’s a rewarding opportunity to give back to a choir that has given me so much.
