What's On In Performing Arts

We have had a busy time in Performing Arts celebrating and acknowledging Chinese New Year! Students of all levels have been singing, exploring and creating music around the theme of Lunar New year. Students shared their knowledge and experiences with this special festival and the many traditions it encompasses. Senior students put their rhythmic skills to the test, creating their own rhythmic patterns and putting words together to make a Rhythm Rap. Students in Grade 1 and 2 learnt a song about Chinese New Year, and worked in groups to choreograph and perform a dance to this song - incorporating elements and movements inspired by traditional Chinese Dragon and Lion dances. Classes also listened to Chinese music and saw how dancers used fans to create beautiful shapes with their movements.
