What's On In Foundation

A Busy Week of Learning for Foundation
We have had a wonderful and productive week in the classroom, filled with hands-on learning and exciting new experiences!
Morning Activities
Each morning, we have been starting our day by strengthening our fine motor skills. These activities help build the hand strength and coordination needed for writing. Students have been practising writing their names and participating in a range of engaging tasks, including using tongs to carefully move pompoms, creating detailed hole-punching pictures, and completing word work with our Word of the Week: “ant.” It has been fantastic to see the focus and persistence students are showing as they develop these important skills.
Maths
In Maths, we have been taking a hands-on approach to learning. Students have been building their number sense by exploring numbers up to 5 and discovering the many different ways numbers can be represented. Alongside this, we have been learning about shapes. We have created them with PlayDoh, drawn them on whiteboards, and investigated where we can find shapes in our everyday lives. The students have enjoyed spotting shapes in our classroom and beyond!
Garden
A highlight of the fortnight was our very first Garden session for both classes! Students loved exploring the garden space, observing nature, and asking thoughtful questions about what they discovered. They were especially excited to meet our school chickens and were even lucky enough to taste fresh tomatoes grown in our very own garden. It was a fantastic learning experience and a wonderful way to connect with nature.
We are so proud of the enthusiasm and curiosity our students continue to show each day. We look forward to another exciting week of learning ahead!
