What's On In 3/4

Junior School Council Representatives for 2026

This week, students have been actively exploring persuasive texts and developing an understanding of how language can be used to influence an audience. They then applied these skills by writing a persuasive piece explaining why they would be the ideal candidate to represent their grade on the Junior School Council.

The students approached this task with enthusiasm and maturity, taking the process very seriously. They thoroughly enjoyed verbalising their ideas and presenting their persuasive texts as speeches to their peers. Their confidence, expression, and thoughtful arguments were impressive—there are certainly a few future politicians and debaters among our group!

We are very proud to announce the successful Junior School Council representatives for 2026:

3/4 A: Collin C,  Eddie R

3/4 B: Sabrina H, Jonathan T

3/4 C: Zoe S, Isabella E

3/4 D: Andrew G  Noah W

Congratulations to all students on their fantastic efforts and willingness to challenge themselves.

Mathematics

Over the past few weeks, students have been developing their understanding of number sequencing by working with whole numbers and fractions. They have practised counting forwards and backwards, starting and ending at different points, and using a range of multiples, as well as halves and quarters. We will continue to build on this learning by exploring fractions in more depth and using number lines to support our investigations.

Students have also been learning about different types of graphs, both on paper and using digital tools. They enjoyed creating meaningful questions to collect valuable data and then representing this information visually. Through this process, students developed a stronger understanding of which types of graphs are best suited to represent different kinds of data and how to interpret the information they present.

In Mathematics, we place a strong emphasis on the language used, alongside hands-on learning experiences that support and deepen understanding. Students regularly engage with concrete materials to help make their learning meaningful and accessible.

Our classrooms promote a positive mindset and supportive learning culture, which we continue to nurture so that any anxiety or apprehension towards learning Mathematics is reduced and replaced with confidence and enthusiasm.
