INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

On the 8th of March each year, we celebrate International Women’s Day a day to recognise the incredible achievements of women across our communities, our country, and the world. It’s a day to celebrate strength, courage, creativity and leadership. It’s also a day to listen to stories of resilience, of overcoming challenges, and of supporting one another to succeed.
International Women’s Day reminds us that while we have made enormous progress, there is still work to do to ensure equality, opportunity and respect for everyone. Here at school, that means continuing to build a community where all people are treated with dignity, kindness and fairness, and where every voice matters.
This year’s theme is “Give to Gain.” It reminds us that when we give support, compassion and opportunity to others, our whole community becomes stronger.
As part of our celebrations, we are partnering with The Wash House, a local organisation supporting women and children in the Blacktown area. The Wash House works to improve wellbeing and quality of life for families experiencing poverty, social disadvantage, domestic violence and other challenges. They provide practical support, information, and guidance to help people feel safe, supported and empowered.
To support this important work, we will be running a fundraising raffle with a fantastic prize, a “fun night in” party pack filled with treats, gift cards, relaxation goodies and more.
Details about how to enter will be shared through your Year Google Classrooms and on Sentral, and the raffle will be drawn at our next assembly Monday 16th March. We will also be collecting gift card donations to support women and children accessing The Wash House services.
International Women’s Day is ultimately about community, about standing together, learning from each other, and making our school and our world a more respectful, inclusive and supportive place for everyone.
