Art Space

Hi All,
We have had a fantastic start to our Arts Programs across all year levels. Students are definitely showing our values of: Respect, Perseverance & Collaboration. A big tick for everyone!
Foundation, Year 1 & 2 students are developing their drawing skills. We have been learning about shapes and how shapes look when creating Cityscape artworks. The skill of tracing around blocks has been introduced and students are working towards creating a cityscape with different sized and shaped towers and all the detail you might find when visiting a city. Students are also involved in Dance sessions this term. Students have been learning a variety of dance moves and are being exposed to a variety of dance genres. Put some music on at home and watch your child break out into some grooves!
Year 3 & 4 students are learning how to draw like Friedensreich Hundertwasser. These past two weeks students have watched videos, analysed artwork and practiced how to draw shapes, patterns and contour lines like the famous artist.
Romero Britto is the artist the Year 5 cohort is investigating. Students are focusing on a Mickey or Minnie Mouse themed watercolour artwork. Students have learnt watercolour brush techniques and are using a lightbox to help trace templates of images.
Our Year 6 students are continuing Drama sessions each week. The focus here is improvisation through Theatre Sports. Students are involved in drama activities in pairs and small groups that develop their improvisational skills.
Also ... if you haven't already ... At the beginning of the year each student drew a small portrait of themselves and these are on display in the corridor near the main school office. They really look fantastic.
Have a great week everyone.
Mrs Hurrey & Mr Evans
