It has been a great first team in the PE department at Roxburgh Park Primary, I loved getting to know all of the students and having fun participating in PE each session. From prep to grade 6, it has been rewarding to watch improvements amongst all students.
Throughout their first term of PE, the Preps started off by exploring a range of different games which allowed them to discover and learn how to play fairly and play within a team. Towards the end of the term the Preps began to focus on practicing and performing their fundamental movement skills such as jumping, hopping, leaping, throwing, catching and kicking and began to implement these skills into mini games and challenges.
Students in grade 1 and grade 2 began the term practicing and learning the correct way to throw a ball for both an underarm and an overarm throw, as well as learning which key skills can be used to catch a ball. The grade 1 and 2’s also had the privilege to participate in a 3-week program that was delivered by Football Victoria. Over these three weeks the students were taught a range of key soccer skills such as dribbling, scoring and passing the ball, as well as playing a lot of fun games!
Throughout term 1, the students from grades 3-6 used their PE class time to practice and enhance their skills for interschool sports. The grade 3 and 4 students were bought back to the basics of tee-ball, basketball and volleyball, focusing on their throwing, catching, striking, passing and shooting. The students were taught and practiced the key skills of these sports and were taught how these games operate. The grade 5 and 6 students also participated in practicing the key skills of these sports which they implemented into their interschool sport teams each Friday.

A massive shoutout to all of our year 5 and 6 students who proudly represented the school in their interschool sport teams each week and an extra shoutout to the girls' volleyball team who made it through to the division finals!
I hope everyone has a restful break and is ready for another fun filled term in PE!
