Every year it is mandatory for the Prep and Year 1 students to conduct a Mathematics Online Interview. This interview consists of numerous questions based around the topics of Counting and Place Value. It provides targeted diagnostic data to inform curriculum planning, monitor student progress, and identify at-risk learners needing support. The results from the data assists your child's teacher in building a profile of what your child already knows and what they may need to learn.

Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT Testing)

The students from Year 2 - Year 6 undertake the Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT Testing) for Reading and Numeracy. The primary purpose of PAT assessments is to establish where students are in their long-term learning journey, rather than just grading them on a specific body of content. Teachers use the results to:

  • Diagnose starting points: Identify students' current knowledge, understanding, and skills to plan the next steps for teaching.
  • Monitor progress: Measure a student's learning growth over time.
  • Differentiate teaching: Inform and tailor classroom instruction and provide appropriate support or extension activities for individual students or groups with similar needs.
  • Compare achievement: Benchmark a student's performance against nationally representative groups of students at the same year level (using stanines or percentile ranks) (Australian Council for Educational Resources)

Flourishing Learners Improvement Network

Every term some members of the Leadership team attend a Flourishing Learners Improvement Network. This comprises of Catholic schools that operate in the Southern Region of Melbourne. Last week the focus was on ''Opportunities to Respond", highlighting the different ways in which students can respond to questions. From here, the staff involved present their learnings at a school staff meeting, therefore ensuring that all staff and consequently students are up to date with the latest educational information.
