Book Week

With the theme "Symphony of Stories", Children's Book Week 2026 will be celebrated from Saturday 22 August to Friday 28 August (Term 3, Week 7).

At Bimbadeen, the week will be filled with a variety of fun and engaging literary activities designed to celebrate the joy of reading and storytelling. Families can also look forward to our much-loved Book Week Dress-Up Parade, along with several other exciting events.

Book Fair

Our annual Book Fair will also arrive during Book Week!

The Book Fair will be open for browsing and purchases from Thursday 27 August to Tuesday 1 September 2026. In order to coincide with Book Week, we have chosen to host a Scholastic Book Fair this year, something we have not done for many years. Scholastic has assured us that the titles available at the Book Fair are quite different from those offered through their regular Book Club program, giving students plenty of exciting new books to discover.

The Book Fair is always a highlight for our students, who love browsing the shelves, discovering new favourites, and creating their own ‘Wish Lists’ to share with their families.

Scholastic Book Club – Issue 5

Brochures for Issue 5 were distributed earlier this week. Closing date for orders is 29th July.

Overdue Books

Teachers have been provided with a list of students' overdue library books as at the end of last term and may mention these during Parent-Teacher Interviews.

We encourage all students to borrow regularly and to renew their books if they wish to keep them for longer than the standard two-week borrowing period.

Individual overdue notices will be sent home early next week for any books that remain outstanding following our initial reminders. If your child brings home an overdue notice, we kindly ask that you check at home for the listed items. If the book(s) cannot be located, please sign the notice, add a brief note to let us know, and return it to the library. We will then conduct a more thorough search at school.

We understand that students do not deliberately lose library books—misplaced items are simply part of learning to manage responsibilities. While we do not charge families for missing books, we do encourage students to take responsibility for the resources they borrow and to develop good borrowing habits.
