Visual Art in Year 4

Ms Laird meets Pete Cromer

Gallery Image

Year 4 students are working on insect collages inspired Australian artist Pete Cromer. You may have seen his artwork as prints or on a range of products such as cups, tea towels and socks.

If you buy Sunbeam sultanas you may have seen his artwork on their packaging!

During the school holidays, I was lucky enough to meet Pete Cromer at the Finder's Keeper's market (pictured with myself and my son Harvey). He was very friendly and we happily chatted about his artwork process and the research he does about each creature before creating the work. I purchased a print of his Willy Wagtail artwork which he kindly signed for our school. This will be proudly displayed in the art room. Pete also signed a few books for our art room library. What a joy it was to chat to one of our inspirational artists and learn about his process! I have also promised to send him some photos of our student work when they are finished.

Check out the amazing works in progress from 4LE below!
