Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day
On Monday 27th July we celebrated the Feast Day of St Anne and St Joachim by inviting our Grandparents and Special Friends to join us at school for the afternoon.
It was a wonderful afternoon, with lots of visitors coming to school. The Faith and Mission and Active Citizenship leaders welcomed everyone and helped them find where they needed to go. Then Claire, Anabel, Jonaz and Reya shared a prayer and a story about Walert and Gugung, weaving a basket together with reeds.
To see everyone working together after the story to create their own weaving was lovely - older hands and younger hands all helping each other to draw, cut, glue and weave in and out. We were very grateful to have so many special people come to share the afternoon with us.
Year 5 St Monica's College Visit
On Monday 27th July, our Year 5 students enjoyed an exciting visit to St Monica's College, where they experienced a taste of secondary school life. They took part in a range of engaging activities, including sport, music and science. Our budding musicians had fun playing the trumpet, violin, saxophone and percussion instruments to We Will Rock You, while the science session gave students the chance to get up close with a blue-tongued lizard, a turtle and even a python. It was a fantastic day of learning, exploration and new experiences, leaving our students excited about what the future may hold.
"We went on a bus at 11 o'clock AM. When we arrived we went to the stage then we got split up into 3 groups. After the groups got sorted we went to the library and we did a Harry Potter quiz. I came 2nd and tied another team. Then we went to a science lab and we talked about animals. There were 3 animals and I touched 3 and held 1. I held the blue tongue lizard named Bluey. After that I went to the wet lands. It was a sacred place. Then we went back to the stage and went back on the bus and went back to school."

"On Monday we went to St Monica’s College in Epping to participate in their amazing high school experience. First thing we did was we went on the bus to their Dalton Rd Campus. Anika and I were waving at people, it was really funny! Once we arrived at the school, we went to the amphitheater and all of the teachers were there. Once they said everything we are going to do, we went to the library and did a Harry Potter Trivia. My team got 2nd place and everyone got wonderful bookmarks! After that we did Science, this was my favourite part. I got to hold Flash the turtle. Everyone else got to pet a blue tongue lizard and a snake. Their skin felt smooth, I was expecting a rougher skin. After science we went to the wetlands to see the water. After that we went to see the other Year Fives and went back to school.
I really enjoyed this day and will definitely be going to SMC."

MACS Secondary School Enrolment Dates
Year 5 families are reminded that enrolment to a MACS Secondary School for Year 7 2028 close next Friday 14th August. If you intend your child to attend a school such as St Monica's College, Marymede, Parade College, Our Lady of Mercy College, Santa Maria College, Penola Catholic College, Loyola College or Santa Maria College, please ensure you have contacted the school directly and completed the relevant application forms for your child.
Having an older sibling at the school does not guarantee a place for year 7, so please ensure you have followed all the protocols to ensure you are not disappointed.
