Positive Support Systems 

In week 7 of last term, SSPS launched our new VALUES Token System as part of our positive reinforcement model. In less than 10 weeks, our Stage cylinders, located in the office foyer, have almost reached the top. The collective work of our students has been remarkable, as they all near their Stage Celebration in coming weeks. All classes reported that the cylinder which has been filling up the fastest has been the Active Learner tube. This wonderful work has also been demonstrated to parents across the school during our student learning conferences.

In addition, our revamped Think of Others Certificates have been handed out this term. Students will only require three certificates this year in order to receive their Principal Pin. Teachers are encouraging students to determine their own reasons for receiving an award, with evidence provided to demonstrate their achievements.

Each week, teachers have been talking about a specific aspect of our Behaviour Expectations Matrix with their class. A weekly focus on a different VALUE (We are SAFE, RESPECTFUL, ACTIVE LEARNERS) in a specific location of the school, helps establish clear, consistent, explicit positive behaviours that we expect from our SSPS school community.
