Victorina Premiers’ Reading Challenge 2025
Congratulations to 105 student participants who have signed up for the Reader’s Challenge for 2025. Many students have been eagerly borrowing books and entering their reading online. We have around 25 students who have already completed the required number of books to be read, resulting in their completion of the challenge. Well done to those students!
The Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge has been a state government initiative for many years now and participating schools have read over 63 million books and it has had over 4.5 million participants, of which St Joseph’s students have been active participants.
This year we have achieved the following to date:
Books read - 868 books picture story and novels
Most read book- 'The Very Cranky Bear' by Nicholas Bland
Favourite book - 'Pig the Pug' by Aaron Blabey
More statistics to be announced next term including student comments about their favourite or least favourite books.
All participants have until mid September to complete the challenge and we now encourage you to start entering your books online. Please refer to your instructional emails that were sent to assist with online entries. All completed participants will receive a special certificate of completion from our State Premier, the Honorable, Jacinta Allan. Certificates will be handed out around October 2025 but look out for your participation certificate along the way as an encouragement for books read at school and at home.
There are many outstanding overdue books to be returned to the library. Please ensure books are returned to the school once completed. There is a two week borrowing period and if you need an extension please return the book so it can be processed through the library system to be renewed for longer borrowing if need be.
Again congratulations to all participants and please email me with any questions in regard to the Reading Challenge- dmcnaughton@stjmern.catholic.edu.au
Happy Reading!
