Week 6 - Colourful Creativity
This week at Before and After School Care, the children had many exciting opportunities to explore their creativity, imagination, and teamwork through a variety of engaging experiences. Children enjoyed using play dough to pretend cook, creating imaginative meals, desserts, and café-style role play experiences. This activity encouraged creativity, communication, and social interaction while supporting fine motor development.
In our cooking club, the children followed their imagination further by making colourful rainbow muffins. They enjoyed participating in each step of the cooking process, from mixing ingredients to decorating their muffins, while building confidence, independence, and teamwork skills.
The children also explored their creative side through diamond art, carefully designing and creating beautiful fridge stickers. This activity supported concentration, patience, and hand-eye coordination while allowing children to express themselves artistically. During our gym sessions, children enthusiastically participated in soccer games, developing their gross motor skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a fun and active environment.
We also engaged in group activities such as completing puzzles together, where children practiced problem-solving, cooperation, and communication skills while working collaboratively with their peers. Overall, it was a wonderful week filled with creativity, active play, learning, and meaningful social connections.
Week 8 - Reconciliation Week
This week, children enthusiastically celebrated Reconciliation Week through a variety of creative and meaningful experiences. Using natural materials such as tree branches, clay, leaves, and other items from nature, children explored their creativity and cultural awareness by designing and constructing unique sculptures. These activities encouraged imagination, problem-solving, and an appreciation for the natural environment.
We were also fortunate to celebrate the birthdays of George and Michelle. Children worked together to help create and bake two birthday cakes, demonstrating teamwork, cooperation, and kindness while celebrating these special occasions with their peers. Our cooking experiences continued throughout the week, with children assisting in preparing breakfast and making delicious pancakes. These activities helped children develop practical life skills, confidence, and independence while working collaboratively in small groups.
In addition, children had opportunities to strengthen their knowledge by participating in medical drills and other educational activities. These experiences supported learning in a fun and engaging way while encouraging persistence and confidence. It has been a wonderful week filled with creativity, celebration, learning, and teamwork, with children demonstrating respect, cooperation, and enthusiasm across all activities.
Reminders:
Lalor East TheirCare also follows Sun Smart and as of 1 September, we encourage children when going outside to place suncream and sunhats.
Please make sure your child have a hat in their bag for when attending our session.
If your child requires special sunscreen please let the staff know, as we only carry 50+ homebrand.
Parents are required to get their child/ren warmer jackets as we encourage and support indoor/outdoor play.
It would be amazing to have families share any recipes with us as we are starting with our Cooking club as of next week
