3/4 Quantum Excursion

3/4s Quantum Recount
On the 2nd of June, we went to the amazing Quantum Victoria! We learnt about minibeasts and make one too.
First, we sorted minibeasts into groups. We each took a different minibeast and my favourite minibeast was the shrimp.
Secondly, we had a break for lunch then went back inside to learn more. We did a little quiz, then got to work. In this session, we learnt about different mouth parts like sponging and siphoning.
For the last activity, we started planning and making our own paper minibeasts. I made a butterfly with a sponging mouth part. It was super fun! Unfortunately, we had to go back to school, packed our things then went home. Best Excursion Ever! – By Ivy
On Tuesday, my class and I went to Quantum Victoria. We learnt about minibeasts. Our teacher from Quantum taught us everything. I was fascinated when they told us the minibeast have no backbone. They even told us different minibeasts have different types of mouths.
After our break, we went back inside to learn. We did an experiment of a fly and mosquito mouth using a sponge and straw for the fly and ink and a dripper for the mosquito.
Finally, we made our own minibeast. I made a super scary spider which was orange with super sharp fangs. It was fun! – By Michael
On Tuesday 2 June, I went to Quantum and I learnt about minibeasts. Minibeasts have exoskeleton.
After that, I learnt how that minibeasts have different types of mouth and then I learnt about how a mosquito sucks blood.
After we were classifying the minibeasts. Some minibeasts have wings and others can have no wings.
After all of that, we made our own minibeasts with plastic, straws and paper. My minibeasts was called Spikey Butterfly. It was so fun and you should go to Quantum! – By Zahra
When I got to school, everyone was there waiting for the bus and when it came, we got on and started the 20 minutes drive to Quantum. After, we arrived and we went inside to the theatre room. We also got a locker number for our bags and started a journey.
We did a pre-quiz before the lesson. Then we started our lesson to learn about ‘Minibeasts’. Minibeasts are animals with no spine. After we used a dichotomous key, which basically helped sort animals into groups.
Later, we learnt how minibeasts eat. The name of the different mouth types are proboscis, mandibles and sponging. The last activity we did was making a minibeast.
