The Year 9 students in the Intelligent Fashion class have been given an amazing opportunity to work with high level specialists and cutting-edge technologies at the Brimbank Tech School.

We were greeted on arrival for our first session by a humanoid robot dancing the Bus Stop at the entrance of the centre. Our sessions focus on wearable tech;  students have been asked to design and develop a functioning product for a specific end-user (the elderly, athletes, shift workers, etc.).

They consider their specific needs, then develop a micro-computer device that senses what the person is doing and responds (with a buzzer, light, sound, etc.). It’s early stages, but the students’ ideas are flowing.

Student Reflection

The opportunity to experience the futuristic aspects of  Brimbank Tech School was amazing. When we first went, the staff introduced us to a robot, and the building was mind-blowing. The materials that we encountered were very modern and we were able to interact with our peers in a way that incorporated technology and evolution.
