Festival of Music – Concert 1 - A Celebration of Strings
Congratulations to the performers at last Tuesday’s Celebration of Strings. With performers from Prep to Year 12 the audience could see the remarkable development of skills that occurs when learning an instrument.
Year 12 student, Tyra, thrilled the audience with Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances. The 2025 dux, Nathan, made a surprise appearance as “Stringman”! The climax was a massed performance of Powershift by over 100 students. It was certainly powerful!!!
Congratulations to the students and their ensemble directors.
Burritos at Junior School Book Week Assembly
The Burrito band is made up of students in the Year 6 program who dedicate time before school and/or lunchtime to play in a concert band. On Friday they will perform for the Junior School students at the Book Week Assembly. We wish them well.
Festival of Music – Concert 2 - Bands in Concert!
Next week the bands will take to the stage. Ticket sales to the Bands in Concert event are now available.
Featuring Symphonic Band, Gravity Band, Big Band, Little Big Band, Burrito Band, Senior School Jazz Band and Year 9 Jazz Band, this concert promises varied music that will entertain and challenge.
What a wonderful opportunity to listen to the college’s outstanding instrumental students.

Victorian Schools Music Festival
Gravity Band performed with skill and expression in their VSMF section yesterday. A full report will appear in next week’s Whispers. Symphonic Band will take to the Hawthorn Arts Centre stage on Monday evening to represent the college. Parents are warmly invited to attend.
The Festival Continues
There is much to look forward to in the remainder of the term. As well as Bands in Concert, there are concerts featuring the VCE Music students, rock bands, the college vocalists and the season 2 cast of Seussical.
