Reporting, Assessment & Parent Teacher Interviews

Understanding Student Reports: A Celebration of Learning

Student reports provide our families with a valuable overview of their child’s learning journey, celebrating achievements, progress, and areas for continued growth.

While formal assessments provide important information, teachers also gather evidence through everyday classroom learning, observations, discussions, and student interactions. These moments help build a complete picture of each student’s strengths, engagement, and understanding.

By bringing together a range of evidence, teachers ensure reports are accurate, meaningful, and reflect the growth each student makes throughout the year. Reports are an important way for families and teachers to celebrate success and work together to support ongoing learning.

Tracking Student Growth at Sacred Heart

At Sacred Heart, monitoring student growth is an ongoing part of our learning journey. Throughout the year, our teachers gather and analyse a range of assessment data to celebrate progress, inform teaching, and identify opportunities for targeted support.

As we move through our midyear assessment period, students participate in a range of whole-class and individual assessments across key learning areas. These assessments, alongside classroom observations, student work samples and teacher reflections, provide valuable insights into each child’s learning and next steps.

Our teachers use research-informed tools to support assessment practices, including the No More Marking writing platform. This tool uses comparative judgement to provide meaningful insights into student writing growth and helps teachers refine their practice through national benchmarking.

We love seeing the writing samples from Prep and Year 1, from learning to identify the ‘who’ and ‘do’ in a sentence to creating information pieces. These examples highlight the progression of skills students develop and build upon throughout the year levels.

In English and Mathematics, assessment data also supports school-wide reflection and planning, ensuring we continue to strengthen learning opportunities for every student.

Our students continue to build knowledge and skills through our Knowledge Rich Curriculum, with a focus on developing vocabulary, sentence structure and confident communication. This approach supports students in not only understanding content but expressing their ideas clearly and effectively.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on Tuesday 23 June and Thursday 25 June, from 2:30pm–6:00pm. These interviews provide an important opportunity for families and teachers to discuss student progress, celebrate achievements and work together to support each child’s learning and development.

Families are welcome to collect their children early on interview days to attend their scheduled appointment. Students who are not being collected at 2:30pm will continue with the school program and be dismissed at the usual time of 3:30pm.

If you have already met with your child’s teacher this term as part of our Parent Support Group (PSG) cycle, there is no need to book an additional interview unless you would like to do so. Bookings can be made through nMeet via the nForma app

We look forward to meeting with families and celebrating the progress and achievements of our students.
