Year 4 Camp

We are excited to share a selection of photos from our recent Year 4 Camp at Camp ADANAC! Students had a fantastic time challenging themselves, building friendships, and creating lasting memories through a range of fun and engaging activities. From outdoor adventures to team-building experiences, the camp was a wonderful opportunity for our Year 4 students to grow in confidence and independence. We hope you enjoy seeing some of the highlights from this special experience.

School Council Nominations

After the initial nominations for School Council, I had received the following nominations for the vacant School Council positions in the following categories:

  • School Employee Category (one vacancy)

    • Narelle Cooper

  • Parent Category (Five Vacancies)

    • Melissa Dawson

  • Community Category (Two Vacancies)

    • No nominations

Thank you to these people that have been elected to School Council.

The Parent Member category was  less than the number of vacancies, so another round of nominations have been received.

We are pleased to announce that our second round of School Council nominations has exceeded the number of available positions. As a result, we will now proceed to a ballot.

Please see the below candidates to consider placing a vote for. All votes must come through the school office by Friday the 13th of March at 4pm. All votes must be handed into the school office in person and voting forms can be collected from the school office.

Parent Candidates

Peta Berechree

Hi, I’m Peta (also known as Charlie R’s mum). You’ve probably seen me at drop-off in my Kingswim uniform before heading to work! I’m already helping out at school stalls and in the canteen, and I’m passionate about supporting our school community. I would love the opportunity to contribute to positive decisions that benefit all of our children.

Matthew Cookes

Hello, my name is Matthew. I’m a proud (and slightly sleep deprived) dad of two wonderful kids. My daughter is currently in Grade 1 at the school, and my son will be starting Prep next year.

Since joining the school community, I’ve been amazed by how supportive and welcoming it is. It’s a place where families feel connected, and that’s something I value deeply.

I work as a film editor, a role that’s taught me the importance of patience, collaboration, and listening to every voice. I’m nominating for School Council because I care about the community our kids are growing up in and would love to help the school continue to be a supportive and welcoming place for families.

Jayde Fahie

Hello my name is Jayde,

I have two children in the senior primary level at Yarra Road. I am a Kinder Teacher and love being involved in school life. I am also part of the YRPS parents association and would love to join school council so I can have a voice within our beautiful school community.

Dean Sutcliffe

Parent of a student at Yarra Road Primary School.

Shelley Welten

My name is Shelley and I’m a parent of a grade 2 student at the school.

I’m a small business owner and run a property styling and staging business where communication, organisation and collaboration is key.

I would love the opportunity to represent the parent community and contribute to the school council.

Volunteering at Yarra Road Primary School

Thank you so much to everyone who has shown interest in volunteering at our school. We truly appreciate your willingness to give your time and be part of our community, it makes a real difference to our students and the experiences we can offer them.

Volunteers play an important role in supporting our learning programs and school activities. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children, the Department of Education requires all volunteers to complete an induction and Child Safe training, and to hold a current Working with Children Check.

Please click the button below to complete the training. At the end, you’ll find instructions on how to register your completion.

Red Hill Racing Success

On Friday 20th February, Arthur competed in a junior mountain bike race at Red Hill Mountain Bike Park in Dromana. The event required riders to complete three different tracks, including two downhill courses. He completed two runs on each track, riding a total of 15.24km with 493 metres of ascent in a time of 1:21:40.

Arthur was very proud to place 5th in the Year 5/6 category out of 23 riders. It was a fantastic experience, and Arthur is looking forward to racing again on a different set of tracks.
