Dr Ken Marshall Art & Design Awards Evening 2025 – 25th Year Anniversary
On Friday 28th of November, Blue Mountains Grammar School celebrated the 25th annual Dr Ken Marshall Art and Design Awards, attended by students, staff, parents/carers, and special guests, including the night’s primary sponsor, Dr Ken Marshall.
The night was a showcase of the imagination, hard work and creativity of those involved in the Visual Arts and Design & Technology areas at BMGS in 2025.
After initial viewing of students’ work, awards were presented by staff and Dr Ken Marshall, who has so generously provided student prizes for the entire 25 years of our Awards. Derivan generously provided material prizes to students! We are so grateful for their continued support for Art and Design at BMGS.
One of the highlights of the night was seeing the 2025 Year 12 major works displayed. It’s inspiring to see the creativity, intricacy and absolutely amazing end products achieved through continued commitment and passion for their crafts. It was great to see the creativity of students in younger years- it was clear that there are many upcoming artists and designers within our school, who we hope to see involved in Art and Design at BMGS in 2026!
Poppy Peterson’s Stage 5 sculpture took out the People’s Choice Award- a very well-deserved recognition of her reflective and incredibly creative piece! We celebrated Year 12’s Maggie Vivian's success in having her major work on display at Art Express in 2026 and Zachary Filla for his Shape nomination. This is an amazing achievement, and we can’t wait to see more from you both going into the future!
Thank you immensely to the staff at BMGS who made the night possible: Mrs Siorokos, Ms Secker, Mrs Gander, Mr Olmos, and Mrs Cooney, as well as the musicians for providing the soundtrack of the night. Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed, and we as students are so appreciative of your passion for creativity.
We hope to see you all involved in Art and Design at BMGS in 2026!
