From the Library Resource Centre (LRC)

SLRC News
Thank you to the JS Families who have returned all their library loans, as this greatly assisted Library staff with collecting items back to reshelve them for the new year. There are unfortunately many who have not returned items though, especially JSW primary students, even though there was a request to return items in Week 7 Library lessons.
It’s that time of year again, to prepare for the Summer Reading Challenge, organised by the Blue Mountains Library.
Choose your own adventure with the Summer Reading Challenge
Summer wouldn’t be the same without Blue Mountains Library’s Summer Reading Challenge. The challenge is returning for the 18th year and will run from 1 December 2025 – 31 January 2026.
The Summer Reading Challenge is for everyone aged 0 – 18, and is a fun, free and creative activity for kids and teens, and is a great way to keep them reading over the summer break.
There are fabulous rewards to earn, and you can choose whichever stories and adventures you want. All you need is a free Library membership.
No matter what you like to read, this challenge is for you. You can read books, picture books, magazines, eBooks, eAudiobooks, Audiobooks and even graphic novels! You also aren’t limited by where you are – you can borrow from any Library branch or use our electronic resources. Pick up a log sheet at any Library branch or download one from the Blue Mountains Library website: library.bmcc.nsw.gov.au
For full details about the Challenge, see: BMCC Summer Reading Challenge
You can receive a $5 book voucher for each log sheet, up to $25 for 4 or more log sheets. These can be redeemed at participating bookstores:
Blue Dragon Books, Glenbrook
Turning Page, springwood
Rosey Ravelston, Lawson
Wyrd Books, Wentworth Falls
Megalong Books, Leura
The Little Lost Bookshop, Katoomba
Gleebooks, Blackheath
There is also a Book Review Competition, where each log sheet has room to review one of the books you read, to go into the draw to win a $25 voucher. Log sheets should be submitted by 6 February 2026.
I would like to thank all the Families and Students who have assisted Library Staff by donating books to the various Library branches, so other students can enjoy the books you have read. This has assisted Library Staff with our collection development and supplementing Library budgets, and I appreciate you considering the School Library to receive your books.
I wish all Grammar Families and their Students a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Wishing you All the Very Best,
Best regards,
Elisabeth Wells
