From the Head of Drama

I am writing this mid-way through our 4 show run of this year’s 7-9 production, ‘Hating Alison Ashley’. The purpose of this week’s update from me is simply to congratulate and thank our students and the team for the work they have done to make the show possible. I will thank the staff and our adult volunteers in person after the final show on Friday evening. Here, in this public forum, I want to give a huge congratulations to the cast and crew for their courage and hard work.

For most of the cast and crew, this is their first ever show. Research tells us that adolescent brains are hard wired to take risks. Live performance allows our young people to take risks within a controlled and supportive environment. Live theatre sits on a knife edge between triumph and catastrophe – what an exciting place to be! Well done to each and every one of you. You are terrific!

I want to express my enormous gratitude to the following Year 12 students. They truly do embody all that is good about being a part of the BMGS community. Service above self, turning up even when it is not convenient, to lead through service to our younger students.

Lachlan Burgess, Winnie Chen, Ryan Ivery, Tara Naumann, Ruby Roberts, Meenatchi Selvarasa, Eliza Umbers.
