Water Polo
The Schools Water Polo competition is up and running on a Friday evening this term. The College has representation in the Year 5/6 mixed as a combined team with St Mary's, a Mount Carmel team in Year 7/8, and a combined team with Mackillop and Sacred Heart in the Year 9/10 girls’ competitions.
The Year 5/6 team includes Year 5 students Eloise Vanier, Olive Alden and Vivienne Pedersen and Year 6 student Eden Kingston. The team has had a tough start to the season, up against some strong opposition. The beginners in the team have been on a steep learning curve, and have been doing an amazing job.
In the secondary competition, the Year 7/8 team has had a fantastic start to the season. Following a solid win in grading, the team was placed in the tougher Group A. They have since had a loss to Taroona, and two good wins, including a 9-2 win against Fahan last week. They are currently 2nd on the ladder.
Thanks to the inclusion of Mackillop and Sacred Heart College players, the Year 9/10 team is combining well as a composite team. After two first up losses, the team has regrouped and is hoping for a strong finish to the season. The team is currently placed 4th on the ladder of 7 teams, with an excellent 16 - 6 win last week against Fahan.
Thanks to families for all their support, particularly with transport to training and games, and assistance with scoring. Good luck to all our teams in the remainder of the season.
Secondary Hockey
Mount Carmel has a combined team with Guilford Young College in the Hockey Tasmania Girls Division 2 School competition on Monday afternoons. The team has combined beautifully, considering the varying levels of experience. Unfortunately there are only three teams in the competition this season, including Friends’ and Mackillop, so there are only four matches. However, all games have been really competitive, and with only one match remaining for the team, the Grand Final and Premiership is anyone's.
