Our green thumbs have recently harvested spinach, rocket, coriander and parsley in the rambling flower and vegetable garden and then planted carrot seedlings in the bed.
The garden under the ramp leading to the hall is a very dry bed so they planted some hardy native violets.
Year 2 students Camilla and Isla were on duty to empty their FOGO and paper recycling bin.
They even salvaged a box from the bin to re-use by ‘making something with it’!
You’re so on top of recycling, well done Year 2!

World Environment Day 2025 calls for collective action to tackle plastic pollution. By drawing inspiration from nature and showcasing real-world solutions, individuals, organisations, industries, and governments are encouraged to adopt sustainable practices that drive systemic change.
This year’s World Environment Day comes exactly two months before countries meet again to continue negotiating a global treaty to end plastic pollution.

Families in our College community who live in the Kingborough municipality, the council are trialling a soft plastics recycling collection point at the Barretta Waste and Recycling Centre.
Soft plastics are one of the most challenging items to recycle and this initiative gives households an easy way to recycle items and reduce their environmental footprint.
Since supermarkets stopped offering a soft plastic in-store collection points in 2022, there has been no other option than to throw soft plastics into the bin. People can now drop off a range of clean and dry soft plastics (plastics that can be easily scrunched) including:
