ATHLETICS DAY

Although the weather gods weren’t in our favour earlier on in the year, we managed to turn it around for athletics. Starting out a little crisp but the lines were sharp, and the students were ready to be starting with a novelty race to get everyone warmed up – then straight into the blue-ribbon events. This year, it was great to see another fantastic turn out, breaking another record for participation in all events across the day. I would like to extend a thank you to all of our fantastic staff members who make the running of the day so smooth, a lot of my work is done prior but it’s very much a hands-on effort from everyone involved. I’m so grateful to have such a supportive staff group who step in with all things planned and unforeseen. This year our biggest memories will be from our year 12 cohort, who didn’t only show up in their numbers but also participated and got involved in everything on offer. We generally see a great attendance from our seniors but this year they really went one step further and set a standard for our younger students by getting involved. Although the day is largely about participation, I would like to congratulate everyone who was successful in their events and represented MESC at our district athletics. This year we had another record attendance at district athletics with some fantastic results which I will comment on further down the track.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the field for our winter sport rotation.
Cheers,
Marcus.
