Performing Arts & Music

Juniors
The Junior students have been enjoying learning all about miming in Performing Arts. They have been working hard on improvising characters everyday activities with exaggerated movements and facial expressions.
The Grade 1 and 2 students have been working hard on rehearsing a partner mime performance that they will be performing to the class in a couple of weeks. They are all very eager to perform and have been perfecting their everyday scenes. Each performance will have a beginning, middle and end with a distinct problem and solution. I am so very proud of them all. I have even caught a few practising out in the yard at recess!

Grade 4 : Video game sound track project
The Grade 4s have been busy working their way through developing a video game soundtrack. To begin, the students have been designing their video game title page, along with their basic plot and characters. Woven through this are learning about basic tempo and dynamics and correct terms such as piano, forte, pianissimo and fortissimo. Understanding these formal terms begins to develop their language base and gives them the ability to identify these features in the music they listen to.
Next step will be to look at how we build a song, and what major and minor chords do to our emotions.
