2025 Annual Report šŸ“ŠšŸ“„

We recently received our attested 2025 Annual Report and I’m pleased to share it with our community. The report provides an overview of how we are going as a school, highlighting student learning, wellbeing and engagement, along with how we have used our resources to support every child, and offers an opportunity to reflect on our progress together and celebrate what’s working well.

Ā

See some snapshots below of the sections I am especially proud to share as Principal, reflecting the positive work happening across our school and community. The full Annual Report can be viewed on our website or accessed via the link below.

Oval Update šŸŸļøšŸŒ±

Work continues behind the scenes in relation to a potential upgrade of our school oval. I recently signed a partnership agreement with AFL Victoria (non-binding at this stage) through their Breaking New Ground program. During the week we held a site visit with AFL representatives and their landscape contractors. This work is still in the investigation and planning phase, and we are now waiting to hear back regarding some initial investigation works. This is a big step in the right direction and we will continue to keep the community updated as things progress.

Ā

I’d also like to thank our community for your continued fundraising efforts. This ongoing support places the school in a much stronger position should we need to make a financial contribution as the oval project progresses, and it is greatly appreciated.

Industrial Action Update ā„¹ļøšŸ“£

You may be aware of ongoing discussion regarding potential industrial action later this term, including the possibility of a half-day strike on Thursday, 28 May. At this stage, we are still awaiting official advice from both the AEU and the Department of Education. Families may recall that the initial round of proposed statewide rolling half-day strikes was suspended as negotiations continued between the Union and the Department. As soon as any official confirmation or direction is received, this will be communicate this promptly with our community.

Mother's Day at Monty Primary šŸ’ā¤ļø

Thank you to the mums, grandmothers and other special loved ones who joined us for our Mother’s Day assembly and classroom activities last week. It was wonderful to see our community together, sharing time, smiles and special moments with the children — we’re very grateful to all of our MPS families for the care and support you show every day.

ES Appreciation Day šŸ‘ā

On Thursday we celebrated ES Appreciation Day, recognising the important contribution our Education Support staff make to MPS each and every day. Quite simply, our school could not function without the care, skill and commitment they bring to their roles. We marked the day with a special morning tea and shared messages from students, which was a small way of saying thank you for the huge impact they have across our school community.

ANZAC Day šŸŒŗšŸ•Æļø

Our school leaders proudly represented Montmorency Primary School at the recent local ANZAC Day service, laying a wreath on behalf of our community. It was wonderful to see such strong MPS representation at the ceremony and to watch our students show respect, maturity and pride as part of this important commemoration.

Road Safety Reminder 🚸🚦

We continue to receive road safety concerns from both families and members of the local Montmorency community, particularly in relation to riding and scooting to and from school.

Ā

We ask that families please take time to speak with children about staying safe for themselves and for others when travelling near the school. These conversations at home are an important way to reinforce the work we do at school through Bike Education, RACV incursions and ongoing reminders and discussions led by staff.

2027 Foundation Enrolments šŸŽ’šŸ«

A reminder to current families that enrolment requests for Foundation 2027 are now being accepted at the school office. This is particularly relevant for families with younger siblings starting school, or for those who have friends or neighbours beginning their school journey in 2027. We’d appreciate you helping to spread the word.
