Cooking

In Week 5, in the food tech classes we made pancakes. It was a fun and rewarding experience as we learned how to create the batter from scratch, mastering the perfect consistency. The results were delicious and we all enjoyed the process of making and tasting our creations.

Farm Gate Excursions

We were fortunate to go on an excursion to Velisha Farm. This is a horticultural farm. The aim of the excursion was to encourage familiarity with the origin of our food supply and to encourage the consumption of vegetables which are so important to our health and wellbeing.

 

The excursion was staffed by Winnie Phan, Semani Munasinghe, Hema Dora, Braidyn Lewis and Nadia Asif.  We gained useful insights into the history and origins of our local food supply.

 

We were also treated to a tasting of a surprisingly delicious smoothie:

 

Zucchini Smoothies

Ingredients

4 x zucchinis

10 x strawberries

4 x pitted dates

2 x cups water

Method

Peel Zucchinis and cut into 2cm chunks

Remove stalks from Strawberries

Cut dates into quarters

Combine all ingredients in a blender

Add 2 cups water

Blend into cups and serve
