Year 7 Maths & Science

In Maths, our students enjoyed hands-on activities exploring 3D shapes and their nets. The journey began with 2D shapes. After that students carefully designed and cut out nets – the flat patterns that form the basis of 3D objects. Once the nets were complete, students folded and joined them together to create real 3D models such as cubes, prisms, and pyramids. The activity gave students the chance to see how flat 2D shapes transform into 3D structures, deepening their understanding of faces, edges, and vertices. The classroom was filled with creativity and excitement as colourful prisms, cubes, and pyramids came to life. Students were proud of their work and could clearly see how Maths connects shapes and space in the real world.

This term in Science, Year 7 students have been diving into the fascinating topic of Earth and Space. They have been learning about the structure of our solar system, including the planets, moons, and the Sun, as well as how gravity keeps these celestial bodies in motion. Students have also explored the daily and seasonal changes we experience on Earth, such as day and night, the phases of the Moon, and the reasons behind the changing seasons. Through hands-on activities and discussions, students are beginning to understand the importance of space exploration and how studying the universe helps us learn more about our own planet. The unit encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a sense of wonder about the world beyond our skies.
