World of Maths

Year 7 Incursion

Earlier this term we were lucky enough to do the World of Maths incursion, which was a fun and interactive hands-on learning experience. The lesson was full of puzzles, problem-solving activities, and team challenges that really made us think outside the box. We all worked together, shared ideas, and encouraged each other, which made it both exciting and rewarding.
One of the highlights was solving real-world style problems using logic and teamwork. Some activities were difficult at first, but with some determination and collaboration, we managed to solve them. It was a great reminder that maths isn’t just about solving numbers on a page, but also about thinking creativity, strategically, and working together. At the end of the lesson, we all left feeling proud of what we had achieved and more confident in using our mathematical thinking in different ways.

The World of Maths was an exciting incursion, as we learned that Maths is not just about numbers and that it can be applied in real life. We got to do fun games, each with a different math concept, and use our problem-solving skills to solve them. In the end, my friend and I (Reem from 7K) got to solve a puzzle in front of everyone.

On the 27th of August all the year 7 classes had an opportunity to contribute in the Worlds of math's incursion. It was a very fun experience with many various activities to do. Me and my peers enjoyed the complicated math puzzles. My personal favourite one was where you had to choose a pair and tie your hand together and like work your way out, it was very interesting and gave us a chance to challenge ourselves. World of Math's gave us a vital chance to express our math skills and enhance our learning through hand-on activities. I strongly recommend we do more of these incursions that help us engage better in our learning, Shout out the World of Math's Instructor for a wonderful time and the Math's teachers for planning this Incursion.

It was good fun. However, you do miss out on learning in class.

Students explored and learned how to use various maths games in this Incursion. World of Maths provided 15-20 games to be played to which students then had to complete the worksheet given to them, answering how to complete a game or puzzle.  Games had to be done idividully or groups had to work together. Year Sevens overall enjoyed this experience.

The incursion was really fun and interesting. It was nice to have a break from normal class and try something different. The presenters made it easy to understand and got everyone involved, which made it enjoyable. Everyone there got a laugh, which made it a happy time. Overall, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely like to do something like it again. The incursion was great because it gave us the chance to try new things and work together in a different setting. It wasn’t just sitting and listening, we got to take part, which made it more exciting. Overall, it was a fun and memorable experience that I’d like to do again in the future.
