Year 2 in the Spotlight

Our students have had a busy term of learning, performing in their concert, and now swimming!

 

Writing Information Reports

This term the students have enjoyed reading, and learning how to write information texts. Here are some samples:

Tree Frogs – By Sienna, 2C

Introduction: There was a snake nearby. It spotted a tree frog. The tree frog sees the snake then the tree frog started to hop away into a tree. Now the tree frog is safe. What an amazing animal. Read more to learn about tree frogs!
 
Diet: Tree frogs eat crickets, moths and spiders. 
 
Habitat: They live in trees for safety away from their enemies. They live in the rain forest. 
 
Appearance: Their skin is green. They have four fingers. They have two back legs and two front hands. They have orange hands and legs. 
 
Behaviors: They need to keep their skin wet. They camouflage in the leaves. 
 
Fun facts: They use their tongue to catch bugs. When the predictor try to eat them they will climb in a tree.

Book Week Fun

Year 2 students really enjoyed participating in the Book Week parade and completing their book, ‘Tiwi In Paris’ activity and designing a poster reflecting on the parade.

Maths

Students have explored the connection between patterns, skip counting, making ‘groups of’, repeated addition, and using arrays, to build multiplicative thinking. They learnt how to link this to division. Here are some work samples from 2B.
