Year 1 students build, explore and create at Legoland
On Friday 17 July, Year 1 students enjoyed an exciting excursion to Legoland at Chadstone. Full of anticipation, students boarded the bus ready for a day of creativity and adventure.
The day began with a workshop where students used their imagination and problem-solving skills to design and build a special dog obstacle course. Their Legoland host was highly impressed with the students' creative designs.
Students then embarked on the popular Kingdom Quest ride, helping to save the princess and the golden dragon, before exploring Miniland, where iconic Melbourne landmarks such as Luna Park, the MCG and Sea Life were recreated entirely from Lego bricks. This inspired many budding builders ahead of future Lego experiences later in the term.
The fun continued on Merlin's Apprentice, where students pedalled their way high into the sky, before enjoying the immersive 4D Lego Movie experience. The day concluded with free-building activities, including designing and racing Lego cars and constructing creations that could withstand tremors.

Senior Chemistry students experience university laboratories
Years 11 and 12 Chemistry students recently spent the morning at the University of Melbourne's chemistry laboratories with Senior Chemistry Lecturer Mick Moylan and doctoral students.
Year 11 students undertook the challenge of determining "What's in the water?" using ultraviolet spectroscopy to identify ion concentrations in water samples. Meanwhile, Year 12 students explored advanced analytical techniques, using infrared spectroscopy, mass spectrometry data and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to determine the structures of mystery molecules.
These authentic laboratory experiences directly connected with VCE Chemistry curriculum, allowing students to apply their classroom learning in a real-world setting and gain valuable insights into tertiary science studies and research.
A flourishing season for Gardening Club
Our Gardening Club has had a fantastic Term 2, growing a wonderful variety of fresh vegetables in our garden. Our hardworking gardeners have cared for capsicums, lettuce, radishes, kale, parsley, runner beans, spring onions, and many other delicious produce. It has been exciting to watch our garden flourish and see the rewards of everyone's hard work.
To celebrate the end of Term 2, our gardeners harvested their fresh produce and worked together to prepare a delicious garden salad with a homemade dressing. It was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their labour while learning about healthy eating and fresh ingredients. We hope you enjoy the photos of our talented gardeners in action!
Celebrating our volunteers
National Volunteer Week is celebrated each year in mid-May and provides the opportunity to recognise and thank the volunteers who generously give their time and expertise to improving communities.
Towards the end on Term 2, we were delighted to join other organisations across Glen Eira City Council to acknowledge the service and dedication of hundreds of volunteer hours at the Community Awards 2026.
At Kilvington, we are incredibly fortunate to have a wonderful team of Parents and Friends Association (PFA) volunteers who are actively engaged in a variety of events, programs and initiatives. Their efforts play a vital role in creating a connected, welcoming and vibrant community that makes Kilvington so special.
Huge congratulations to Fiona Godfrey, Kim Johnston and Eleri Stephens who each received an award for 500 hours of volunteer service with the PFA, and to Marnie Turner who was honoured with an award for an extradorinary 1000 hours of service with the PFA.
We extend our sincere thanks to these dedicated volunteers, and to every member of our volunteer community. We simply could not support our community without the generosity, skills and energy of our amazing volunteer team.
Year 7 Geography students explore water in the world
As part of their studies in Water in the World, Year 7 Geography students recently travelled to Toolangi State Forest to experience the water cycle firsthand and learn more about Melbourne's water supply.
Throughout the excursion, students explored the temperate rainforest and visited various locations to examine different water qualities and investigate why it is so important to protect our water resources. One of the highlights of the day was searching for water bugs and observing the ecosystem up close.
The excursion provided students with a valuable opportunity to apply their classroom learning in a practical setting, deepening their understanding through hands-on experiences and real-world connections.
