Back to Breen

This Saturday marks one of the most anticipated days of the year at the College – Back to Breen Day.

More than just a round of sporting fixtures, Back to Breen is a celebration of the SPC sporting community. It is an opportunity for our current students, Old Boys, families and wider community to come together, celebrate our rich history and proudly support the young men who wear the Black, Blue and Gold.

This year's Back to Breen Day carries even greater significance as it marks the final home sporting fixtures for our many of our Year 12 students. For many of these boys, it will be the last time they represent the College on Breen Oval, SPC 2 or SPC 3 in front of family, friends and classmates. It is a fitting occasion to recognise their commitment, leadership and contribution to SPC sport throughout their time at the College.

On the field, we welcome Oakhill College for what promises to be a fantastic day of competition. Matches between SPC and Oakhill have always produced fierce contests and memorable moments, and this weekend will be no different. Every fixture throughout the day carries importance, with results to play a big part in our teams push towards the finals.

If there is one Saturday to attend this year, this is it.

We are calling on every member of the SPC community to get behind our teams by filling the sidelines of SPC 2 and Breen Oval with a sea of black. Your support makes a genuine difference. The energy, encouragement and atmosphere created by fellow students, families and Old Boys inspire our teams and showcase the incredible spirit of our College.

Students are encouraged to stay throughout the day and support as many fixtures as possible. Whether your own match has finished or you're not playing, take the opportunity to cheer on your mates, celebrate every success and help create an atmosphere that makes Back to Breen such a special tradition.

I am excited to be involved in my first Back to Breen Day so I hope the community and results can make it one to remember. Wear your SPC colours with pride, bring your voice, support every team and let's celebrate what SPC is all about.

Rugby - Round 6 Wrap Up

St Patrick’s got the job done in the Central West, delivering a determined and memorable Round 6 performance in Bathurst against St Stanislaus’ College. It’s always a tough trip out west, and Saturday proved no different — a classic winter day marked by cold air, bright sunshine, and hard, honest rugby. 

Across the grades, the boys set a strong platform with impressive results. The 13 Cs, 14 As, 16 Cs and 16 As all secured excellent wins, while the 16 Bs fought out a gritty draw that showcased real resilience. 

All roads then led to the main event — and the First XV delivered a performance worthy of the trip. They dominated possession and territory, combining bone‑crunching defense with silky smooth attack. The highlights came thick and fast: a sharp sniping run from Ruben R catching the defense off guard before chipping over the top for a flying Thomas H to finish in the corner; Oscar D blasting through the middle, skittling defenders to set up Ronan O after sustained phase play; Alex S slicing through the defensive line to score under the posts; Ryan S returning from injury to plant one down in the corner; and Luke T helping himself to a late try to seal the result. 

When the final whistle blew, we could celebrate a 31–22 victory, a hard‑earned and long‑awaited win in Bathurst — the first in many years. 

A huge thank you to all families and players for their efforts over the weekend. It is always a great sight to see many families around the grounds, to see our students on the sidelines supporting their mates and seeing the many Blue, Black and Gold outfits around the grounds. A special thank you to Mr McCann and Coach Tom C for supervising students on the bus to and from Bathurst. A proud day for the program and a strong statement heading into the next round. 

We look forward to a big weekend at home for Back to Breen Day against Oakhill College.

Football - Round 8 Wrap Up

Overall, it was an excellent day for SPC Football. Across all teams, we recorded 20 wins, 5 draws, and only 4 losses, scoring 117 goals while conceding just 32. It was a fantastic effort from our players and coaches.

We now look forward to another exciting round this weekend as we return home to take on Oakhill College.
