Wellbeing - Middle School
Welcome Back to Term 3
It has been wonderful to welcome our Middle School students back for Term 3. After a well-earned break, SPC has once again been filled with energy, laughter and optimism as students return ready to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead in Term 3.
As I greeted many of our boys throughout the week, I encouraged them to see this as a fresh start - a chance to recommit to their goals, challenge themselves, and make the most of every opportunity both inside and outside the classroom. Success is achieved through the small choices that our young men make each day: choosing to be prepared, to work hard, to show compassion and empathy, and to support one another. These are the qualities that underpin Shining the St Patrick's Way and help shape the young men we aspire to develop.
A particular highlight of the week was celebrating Grandparents' Day. It was truly heartwarming to welcome so many grandparents into our classrooms and around the College. Their presence was a wonderful reminder of the invaluable role they play in the lives of our students. I had the privilege of speaking with many grandparents throughout the morning, and it was clear how immensely proud they are of their grandsons. Importantly, not only for their achievements, but what struck me the most was how proud they are of the young men they are becoming. The genuine love, wisdom, and encouragement that grandparents provide is a remarkable gift, and we thank them for sharing this special celebration with our College community.
We look forward to another rewarding term together and thank our families for their continued partnership in supporting our young men to flourish academically, socially, and spiritually.

Year 5 Grandparents Day 2026
Friday 24 July was the wonderful celebration of Year 5 students and their grandparents. Despite a chilly start, love soon warmed up the College Chapel as the boys took over hosting their beloved elders. On the eve of the feast of St Joachim and St Anne (grandparents of Jesus) Fr John reminded us that our grandparents are the custodians of great wisdom and experience of times many of us can only imagine.
Following Mass it was time for the students to once again guide towards a welcome cup of tea/coffee and some delicious treats. Now re-energised, it was a chance for a quick visit to the classrooms to see where the grandsons spend their days.
The love, smiles and affection among families was beautiful. Well done boys on being proud hosts. Thank you to all grandparents for the role that you play in the lives of your grandsons and our College community.
