First Nations Perspectives

Womin Djeka Festival

We extend our sincere thanks to the students, staff, and families who joined us at the Womin Djeka Festival last Saturday. It was wonderful to see so many from our St Mary’s community come together to support, honour and celebrate First Peoples cultures at this beautiful, family-friendly event, one we are very proud to be part of.

Our students did an amazing job contributing to our stall through their Permaculture lessons, showing respect, understanding and actively listening to and learning from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories, traditions, and cultures. We are proud to embed First Nations perspectives in learning and daily life at St Mary’s and grateful for the ongoing support of our families.

Below are photos of visitors to our stall and some reflections and highlights of the festival from our junior school students.
